    Each year we present a range of enticing events. Some are for learning, some for inspiration and others are for your entertainment. Whichever you choose our 2026 event schedule has something for everyone. Most events require you to book tickets, which you can do directly through this website. Others including the Mitre 10 Speaker Series are offered free (usual garden entry fee applies) for you to gain knowledge and enjoy our wonderful gardens. Please ensure you book early to avoid disappointment as many of our events sell out.     19. The Yews Lee and Roland have lovingly planted their property with overflowing roses and rhododendrons. This large formal country garden is inspired by traditional English style to complement the grand old 1800s villa, which was shifted back from the roadside to enable the garden to develop around it. Yew hedging gives definition to the expansive flat lawns, an easy walk for visitors with mobility issues. Featured in NZ House & Garden magazine.     32. Portia's Place Portiaโ€™s Place is a romantic two-year-old garden with 100-year-old bones. On this contoured halfacre section, Zach and Mitchel have combined plant knowledge and creative flair to shape a woodlandcottage garden with yesteryear charm. Mitchel has created paths and stonemason-style steps, while Zach, the plantsman, has unusual specimens thriving in a glasshouse beside an old copper beech. This place of constant discovery includes bamboo, a wetland, wild topiary and hidden treasures.     Let's Grow Bananas with Vance Hooper Bananas have been growing in New Zealand for more than 100 years โ€“ now itโ€™s time to learn how you can add a taste of the tropics to your own garden. Historically, growing bananas has been dependent on limited microclimates, but with careful variety selections and a few key cultural factors, the fruit โ€“ botanically a berry โ€“ can be grown more widely. Vance will share tips on banana propagation, establishment and ongoing garden culture to get the best out of these fresh-and-fruity jungle beauties. Established in 1987 as the Rhododendron Festival, the Centuria Taranaki Garden Festival is New Zealandโ€™s longest-running garden festival. Over 10 days, visitors can explore more than 40 stunning gardens, from grand country estates and subtropical retreats to native sanctuaries, urban food forests, and sustainable lifestyle gardens. Many of the festival gardens are recognised by the New Zealand Gardens Trust as International, National, or Regional Gardens of Significance. Since 2017 and 2020 respectively, the festival has partnered with the Taranaki Sustainable Backyards Trail and the Taranaki Arts Trail, giving visitors the opportunity to explore artists' studios, community spaces, and innovative projects that celebrate creativity and inspire sustainable living. Alongside beautiful gardens, the festival offers expert talks, creative experiences, regional hospitality, and the chance to discover the best of Taranaki.
