Keeping it Fresh: Q&A with June Leeds from Cairnhill in Toko

Q: Is there a part of your garden you’ve changed, refreshed or even added, since the last time you were in the festival?
Yes, we have made a change to the way visitors will enter the garden from the driveway, changing the shape of the gardens on either side. We have added to the liriope bed and, on the other side, reshaped and moved hostas, rounding this bed, to complement an entrance.
Q: Where in the garden are these changes – and what have you done?
Pruning and removing some rhododendrons at the entry, as well as refreshing the garden and sowing new lawn, which has created a two-toned effect.
Q: Why did you make this change?
We had two possible entries off the driveway – now it will be clear which way to come in.
Q: What have you done to keep your garden refreshed?
We have replanted 50 metres of buxus, refreshing many of the beds. It now looks fresh from every window of our house.
Q: What does your garden mean to you?
Our garden is my happy place, and we welcome others to share it from time to time.
