The Ōmata school orchard project began in 2017and was imple-mented over two years by the children, staff and community.
We have transformed a previously barren area into a dynamic food forest which consists of 23 large fruiting trees, berries, vines, veggie beds beds for annuals, support plants and much more.
Our main purpose is to provide a sustainable food forest where children learn about food from the ground to the table, whilst having a space to relax, enjoy and play.
