Introduction to Botanical Drawing with Dr Tabatha Forbes. This special Puketarata workshop is focused on drawing exercises referencing New Zealand's rich Botanical art history. The subject for the day's workshop will be beautiful leaves and foliage gathered from the gardens and will cover basic drawing techniques including pencil work, composition, form and building detail. Tabatha holds a Doctorate in Fine Arts and has been teaching botanical art for nearly two decades. Her art practice includes painting, photography, installation and writing. Currently living in Ōaonui, South Taranaki, Tabatha runs Forbes & Flay studio gallery in Ōpunake showcasing her and her sculptor husband’s work as well as hosting botanical and nature journaling workshops on site. The workshop fee includes all materials needed in class and will coincide with a special guided walk/talk through the historic landscape of Puketarata hosted by Ken Horner. |
